Why Abaca fibres?
At the heart of CAFEC filters are fibres from Manila hemp, known as Abaca. Native to the Philippines, this plant (related to the banana tree) provides fibres of extraordinary strength and elasticity.
Exceptional permeability: Abaca fibres are thinner and more stable than traditional wood cellulose, which translates into a smoother flow of water.
Taste neutrality: This paper does not leave a characteristic "papery" aftertaste, allowing the flavour notes of the coffee itself to dominate.
Ecology: Abaca grows quickly and is fully biodegradable. The filters are FSC® certified (SA-COC-004016), which guarantees that the raw materials come from responsibly managed forests.
Abaca+ technology
The Abaca+ series is the next step in the evolution of filtration. Thanks to a unique pressing technique and the appropriate balancing of the crepe height on both sides of the paper, even better control over water flow has been achieved. This prevents coffee fines from settling on the walls, eliminating the risk of over-extraction and bitterness.
